SFB 642 Graduate School
The training program of the Graduate School is highly connected to the research interests of the SFB 642. The members should learn how functional properties of bio-molecules are influenced by being embedded into membranes or by artificial surfaces. This leads to a better understanding of the molecular mechanism of biological processes. Therefore, biochemical experiments and results can be classified more accurately to medical relevance and application. In addition, the members should learn modern, biophysical, biochemical and cell-biological methods to study processes at membranes. These aspects become more and more important in high-sensitive, analytical techniques and modern, technical applications.
Due to the cooperation within the SFB 642, in which many of these techniques are established, the members have the possibility to learn and to use these during their research projects.
Scientific Workshops
The intensive and interdisciplinary scientific workshops represent an important aspect of the professional training for the members of the SFB 642 Graduate College. These courses are structured in three parts: lecture, exercise and hands-on training.
Therefore, the members are enabled to learn different up-to-date experimental techniques and possibilities to evaluate and visualize their results. The main focus of each practical course is the discrete experimental operation and the transfer of the theoretical foundation. This provides an optimal basis for the discussion of all kinds of experiments established in the SFB 642 projects. The transfer of experimental know-how is fundamental for successful cooperations within the SFB 642.
